Why the Benefits of Ionized Water Make me Feel Better

What are the properties of your water? How important are those properties to you?

It's no secret that contaminants compromise our water supply. Because of this, water treatment facilities use chemicals to provide clean water. Chemicals such as chlorine and chloramine. Of note, this applies to the water that comes out of your shower as well.

So what are the properties of your water? You may not know and neither do I. It depends on the water treatment facility that services your area. But... I can tell you the properties of my water. And I drink alkaline ionized water.

Water contain physical and chemical properties. There many more properties as well. So I am going to focus on a few properties to keep this brief. I am also going to focus it on the properties related to drinking water. Those properties are:

  • Surface tension

  • Alkalinity

  • Electrical conductance

Surface tension in water allows it to resist an external force. That's because water molecules stick to each other. For instance, you may remember the following science experiment in school. Does a paper clip float in water? Yes, it does. How? The high surface tension of water helps the paperclip float in water. Cool! How does this relate to drinking water? Water with high surface tension does not hydrate our bodies. It sits in the stomach giving you the waterlogged feeling. Most of the time, you expel the water through urination before it hits your small intestine. Water with low surface tension reaches the small intestine fast.

Alkalinity. A liquid solution is alkaline if its pH reading is above 7.0. If it's below 7.0, it's acidic. If it's at 7.0, it's neutral. The small intestine absorbs the water you consume. Then our blood transport the water to the rest of the body. Our blood's optimal pH range is between 7.35 and 7.45 pH. This means are blood is alkaline. But too much alkalinity in our blood is detrimental. While alkalosis seldom happens, the opposite occurs way too often. This means that we suffer from acidosis a lot more. Acidosis occurs when the pH of blood drops below 7.0. Our diet, stress, and other environmental factors affect this pH. So drinking alkaline water helps promote good health within our body.

Electrical conductance. Our bodies are electrical. The nervous system uses electrical impulses for body functions. This makes it possible for us to move, think, and feel. Thus, water with an electric charge energizes the body. This happens because our cells allows charged elements to pass through its membrane. Charge elements such as calcium, sodium, and magnesium. You find these elements in water. This electric charge in water improves cell to cell communication. It also improves the transportation of nutrients and oxygen to the body.

These 3 main properties energize my body. I have more mental clarity and longevity in any given day. My hydration level flushes out toxins from my body. This includes:

  • Flushing lactic acid from my muscles after working out which aid in recovery

  • Improve digestion due to nutrient absorption and waste secretion

  • Improved sleep due to less stress in the body

I hope this helps you become aware of the water you put in your body.
